Vinous

Vinous

Good deep medium red. Knockout nose offers black and blue fruits, dried flowers, minerals, mocha and Asian spices. Then chewy and powerful in the mouth, with an urgent quality to the sappy fruits and flowers. As was the case when I tasted this wine from barrel a year ago, I was amazed by the whiplash of fruits and crushed stone on the finish, which reveals a wonderfully subtle sweetness. This may not have the sheer exotic appeal or steel-like structure of the 2005, but it's brilliant in the context of its vintage. As I pointed out last year, Perrot-Minot must have plucked out the hail-affected berries with a tweezer.
