Aurore Casanova studied ballet at the Conservatoire de Paris and danced internationally before returning to her family’s vines in the Montagne de Reims. Today, she and her husband, Jean-Baptiste Robinet, are crafting some of the region's most talked-about wines, sourced from a diverse array of terroirs in Champagne.

Aurore Casanova

Aurore Casanova and Jean-Baptiste Robinet met in Avize while studying viticulture, following former careers as a ballerina and a prosthetics designer, respectively. Aurore originally returned to her family’s vines—planted by her mother in the 1960s—simply to take a break from her life as a traveling dancer, but she ultimately decided to stay and take up the family trade. The duo founded their winery in 2013 with just 3.5 hectares spread across the region, releasing their first vintage three years later.

Uniquely, Aurore and Jean-Baptiste craft wines from Grand Cru villages in multiple regions across Champagne. They produce wine in the Montagne de Reims, where the winery is located (Mardeuil), and in the Côte des Blancs, where their oldest vines are spread across 22 plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Additionally, they farm land in prime Pinot Meunier country in Champvoisy.

They have been certified organic since 2023 and implement biodynamic principles in the vineyard. For their top wines, they believe in barrel aging on lees in wood sourced from the finest vignerons in all of Champagne: Selosse, Egly-Ouriet, and Tarlant. Dosage is always kept low, and the duo make a variety of wines; notably, their range includes a few wines made from their vineyard, Puisieulx, in the Montagne de Reims. Keep an eye out for their top wine, Union, combining a perpetual reserve from Puisieulx and Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
