Originating from a petite 0.38-hectare parcel with 60-year-old vines planted in shallow marl soil, this wine undergoes a gentle pressing, followed by a cool 90-day fermentation. It then matures for 12 months in 300L and 600L barrels before further aging in tank for 6-12 months.Only around 25 cases are produced from this small parcel each vintage, so grab them quickly before they're sold out.

The 2019 Santenay Clos des Gravières Blanc 1er Cru has a crisp saline nose, plenty of sea spray and light tangy seaweed elements here. The palate is quite closed with grapefruit and melon notes on the entry. I felt this cuvée needed some racking, which Olivier Lamy was planning soon and then it will gain a little more weight and length. But all the elements are here. It opens with aeration.
