"This wine originates from the village of Pierreclos (vines over 50 years old) on clay-limestone soils at the top of the hillside in the areas known as “Champs Montagne,” “Vérondière,” and “En Belouze,” with low yields. It is a unique selection of the first juices from the press. These juices were vinified in horizontal stainless steel vats with their raw lees for seven months. As it is often the case in Pierreclos, when the skins and seeds are ripe, the result is a very structured wine with a beautiful mineral texture. It has slightly reduced and oaky aromas on the first nose, then develops very pronounced white flower scents. The palate is dense but also very clear, fresh, and tangy. 88, WK - "The 2023 Mâcon-Villages Terres de Pierres is (as usual) based on fruit from Viré, complemented by some press juice from other sectors. Offering up aromas of pear, yellow orchard fruit and bread dough, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a charming, forward personality that's adapted to early consumption."

From a collection of Macon climats: Viré, Bussières, Pierreclos, Vergisson. Viré is more clay-based, while the other three plots are more limestone-dense with some clay. Fermented and aged 4 additional months in horizontal stainless tanks without racking. 10,000 bottles produced.

86, WK - "The 2024 Mâcon-Villages Terres de Pierres is floral and exotic, with a medium-bodied, fine-boned palate and a chalky, mouthwatering finish."

"This wine is a blend of first pressings from plots located this year in Viré (75%) and last pressings from the vineyards of Pierreclos, Vergisson, Bussières, and Fuissé (25%). The soils of Viré are quite clayey, while those of southern Mâconnais are more stony. By blending these different terroirs, we retain the richness of Viré and add complexity with the other juices, which come from more limestone-rich and precise terroirs. Everything is harvested at perfect maturity, resulting in a cuvée characterized by its drinkability. The entire cuvée was vinified in horizontal stainless steel vats. Fermentation was completed in mid-October. Aging on raw lees continued for four months to bring charm and precision to this wine. The nose of this wine is very fruity with aromas of peaches accompanied by floral notes of white flowers. The palate is full-bodied and rich with a beautiful smoothness, ending with a bitterness typical of Mâcon wine." - Julien Desplans

Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with lovely depth and purity, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. It will be even better with a bit of bottle age."

94, WK - "It's always hard to choose between this bottling and La Roche, and as usual, the 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Combes Vieilles Vignes is a touch richer and broader out of the gates. Picked in three separate harvests (collecting only the ripest grapes on each passage), the Verget team pulled out all the stops to craft a medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny wine that's seamless and complete, evoking aromas of pear, honeycomb, white flowers and toasted nuts."

Offering up notes of white flowers, peach, toasted nuts and spices, framed by a classy touch of reduction, it's medium- to full-bodied, deep and complete, with a multidimensional mid-palate and a long, penetrating finish. As is often the case, this parcel was picked in three successive passages (or "tris"), an approach normally reserved for the wines of Domaine Guffens-Heynen."
