On the nose, ripe pear is garlanded in musky iris and narcissus. Those elements reconvene on a satiny, subtly creamy yet delicate palate for a luscious and perfumed impression. Mouthwatering salinity, chalky impingements and a hint of green tea serve for saliva-inducement and intrigue on a consummately refreshing and superbly sustained finish. Here is a terrific illustration of how letting fermentation stop before the wine became legally dry has resulted in enhanced alcoholic levity and fruitiness, thanks to hidden but efficacious residual sugar. Five different lots went into the making of this beauty – unusually many, but Fricke said that disparity of picking dates as well as of fruit personality demanded it.
