How Pre-Arrival Works

These wines are currently on the way to Thatcher’s Wine. We have sourced them from some of our clients' private cellars, our friends in Europe, direct from the domaine or through our other trusted networks. On each product you will note an estimated time of arrival. Understand that these are only estimates, and to ensure that your wine arrives safely it may be longer. Utilizing this method allows us to offer some amazing wines and gives you the opportunity to secure them earlier. Upon arrival at TWC you will receive a notification and we will ship the wines to you.

From a steep vineyard on colored slate at more than 300 meters in altitude, the 2017 Hallgarten Hendelberg Riesling trocken is clear, precise and intense on the delicately spicy-piquant nose with its still yeasty but perfectly ripe and aromatic fruit aromas. Concentrated, tight and fruity on the palate, this is a crystalline, persistently salty and densely woven Hendelberg with great finesse and purity and a lingering crunchy slate character. A fabulous wine already. Tasted in May 2019.

The nose is marked by oak resin due to the relative newness of the large cask in which this wine was raised. Along with this come intimations of walnut and peach kernel piquancy. The glossy, dense palate practically explodes with rich, bittersweet flavors pit-inflected white peach of zesty lemon, leading to a vibrantly gripping and infectiously juicy finish whose oyster liquor-like combination of meaty, herbal, algae-like and briny-stony elements puts the squeeze on one’s salivary glands.
