Utilizing this method allows us to offer some amazing wines and gives you the opportunity to secure them earlier. The 2013 Riesling trocken Schlehdorn Unikat displays an intense yellow color with almost orange reflections. The nose is very intense, displaying super matured and overripe stone fruit aromas as well as stewed apricots. On the palate, this is a very dense, tense and tannic Schlehdorn with concentrated fruit and a firm phenolic structure. It's not as refined or perfectly on the point as the Landgeflecht, but it has great tension, grip and further aging potential. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.

A product of fermentation on the skins, but from that point on “classic Kühn” in upbringing and only bottled after 22 months, this amazing wine originates with a plot of 80 year old vines in the Mittelheimer St.-Nikolaus that were spared the wholesale restructuring and replanting to which that commune’s vineyards were otherwise subjected. Maritime themes dominate already in the nose, which mouthwateringly suggests raw scallop and ocean breeze, but also hints at almond, white peach, grapefruit, and zesty lemon. Those fruits go on to dominate an expansive, waxy, subtly oily palate. Animating citric brightness is underlain with earthy richness of raw pumpkin; and the piquant combination of citrus pips and peach kernel leads to the sort of cyanic glow that is a feature of other Kühn 2013s. This finishes with almost explosive intensity, displaying reverberative energy, formidable reach and tactile grip, if not quite the transparency or mouthwatering savor of the corresponding Doosberg and Landgeflecht bottlings.
