How Pre-Arrival Works

These wines are currently on the way to Thatcher’s Wine. We have sourced them from some of our clients' private cellars, our friends in Europe, direct from the domaine or through our other trusted networks. On each product you will note an estimated time of arrival. Understand that these are only estimates, and to ensure that your wine arrives safely it may be longer. Utilizing this method allows us to offer some amazing wines and gives you the opportunity to secure them earlier. Upon arrival at TWC you will receive a notification and we will ship the wines to you.

Fermented and aged for ten months in a 1,150-liter oak barrel from Franz Stockinger, Molitor's 2015 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese *** (Green Capsule) opens with a very deep, ripe and concentrated fruit aroma with flinty and yeasty flavors. Rich, round and perfectly balanced on the palate, this is a huge, big, fat, lush and exotic Riesling with an elegance and crystalline finesse that only Mosel Riesling can put against the rich opulence (or better: can lift). The acidity is perfectly integrated, and the wine is incredibly round, lush and intense, with very fine tannins that are a result of the basket pressing. Although it might not meet your expectations of a classic Mosel Riesling, I suppose this will become a legend one day. It is still a bit Burgundian, but this power, intensity and lush, elegant fruit, well... that's 150% Mosel. Let's say, this is a Condrieu-styled Riesling from the Mosel, and it doesn't have to fear any 100-pointer from anywhere in the world.

This very discreetly sweet three-star Auslese leads with the same hauntingly buddleia-like floral perfume exhibited by its 2014 counterpart, but free of any botrytis influences. The density and creaminess exhibited on the palate put me in mind of vanilla custard mingled with drippingly ripe white peach and lightly cooked apple. Bittersweet hints of walnut and pecan, along with suggestions of wet stone, lend counterpoint, leading into a buoyant finish of amazing intensity, richness and sheer persistence. Here is a gorgeous, compelling illustration of the unique flavor profile and sensational potential of Zeltinger Sonnenuhr.
