How Pre-Arrival Works

These wines are currently on the way to Thatcher’s Wine. We have sourced them from some of our clients' private cellars, our friends in Europe, direct from the domaine or through our other trusted networks. On each product you will note an estimated time of arrival. Understand that these are only estimates, and to ensure that your wine arrives safely it may be longer. Utilizing this method allows us to offer some amazing wines and gives you the opportunity to secure them earlier. Upon arrival at TWC you will receive a notification and we will ship the wines to you.

The 2015 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese ** (Golden Capsule) has an intense and concentrated bouquet with very fine raisin and grapefruit aromas that indicate a higher percentage of botrytis compared with the two-starred Rausch or Klosterberg Auslese. On the palate, this is a super fine, sweet and concentrated but highly elegant and finesse-full Auslese with super fine acidity and crystallinity. The lush tropical fruit of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr shines through in the finish that is gorgeously clear, piquant and fine.

Pear preserves and apple jelly are allied to bright fresh lemon and lime in this three-star performance. The palate presence is creamy in texture and almost custardy in its richness and underlying extract, yet at the same time buoyant and electrically charged with citricity. The flavors begin heading in a confitured and confectionary direction but are then restrained by high acidity. The alternation of creaminess and brightness, honeyed richness and citricity continues through a lusciously lingering finish in which a hint of caramel serves as a further, delightfully integrated botrytis marker. This is another of those embryonic Molitor 2015s that will need time to display their mettle, but it already conveys amazing concentration and persistence, not to mention a remarkable sense of energy.
