Crafted from equal parts Nero d’Avola and Frapatto from three plots planted on a combination of sand and sub-Appenine limestone. After aging for 24 months in Slavonian oak, the wine will sit an additional 6 months in bottle prior to release. . The resulting wine is aromatic, age-worthy, textural, and complex. We’re incredibly excited to follow this young domaine.

For sharp students of Sicilian wine, the iconic squat bottles from Azienda Agricola COS represent consistency, tradition, and frankly some of the most delicious wines coming from the island. Following in the footsteps of their father Giusto Ochipinti – uncle to the iconic Arianna and one third of the aforementioned COS – his two sons Giovanni and Paolo are crafting a new vision for the future of Sicilian wine with their father.

Le Fontane

The partnership between Giambattista Cillia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Cirino Strano at Azienda Agricola COS has been one of the notable cornerstones of artisanal winemaking in Sicily. In 2022, Giusto (the O in COS) launched a new project with his two sons Giovanni and Paolo, building on the lineage started as COS and looking forward to the next generation of Sicilian Wine.

Le Fontane began with a Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the top DOCG in Sicily and they have since added a red and a white under the IGT Terre Siciliane designation that see shorter elevage and are more intended for early drinking.

Fermentation and elevage takes place in concrete tanks for the two wines from the IGT level, and the Cerasuolo di Vittoria is aged in Slavonian oak for 24 months with an additional 6 months in bottle. The wines are reminiscent of the work done at COS but with a sleekness all their own.
