Vinous

Vinous

92-95

(just two barrels made, from 40-year-old vines): Palish red. Captivating perfume of raspberry, red cherry and rose petal. Juicy and sharply delineated in the mouth, with a high-pitched floral quality adding lift to the pungent cranberry, pomegranate and wild strawberry flavors. Less dense than the Hospices de Nuits wine but much more elegant and sharply delineated. The very long, palate-staining finish conveys an impression of mineral tension if not the power of some of the wines vinified by Lignier. With its firm spine of noble tannins, this savory grand cru offers outstanding finesse, as well as the balance and structure for a graceful evolution in the cellar.
