Kühn's 2014 Mittelheimer St Nikolaus Riesling Grosse Lage has a brilliant golden-yellow color and displays a concentrated yet still rather closed and soil-driven bouquet. Full-bodied and complex, with great elegance, seamless balance and silkiness on the palate, this is a pure, finessed and very promising wine with serious structure and persistence. The aftertaste is really long and intermixes stony notes with ripe and well-concentrated fruit flavors. However, the wine is still closed and its fascinating purity comes across as a bit austere in the finish.
