For those familiar with the incredible work being done at Domaine David Duband, his work continues in the form of an exciting négociant project started in 2018 to explore new frontiers in Burgundy. Named for his two daughters, Philomène and Léandre, David makes delicious wines from select parcels in Savigny-lès-Beaune and a few other lesser-known areas within the Côte.

Les Terres de Phileandre

Adding to his already robust and well-respected arsenal of vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, David Duband set his sights on a new négociant project established in 2018. Named for his twins, Philomène and Léandre, Les Terres de Philéandre represents a new chapter for David where he is free to exercise more freedom, working with vines primarily in Savigny-lès-Beaune and the vineyards of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.

The ethos behind the project is the same, but David has a new canvas, working with vineyards that are sometimes declassified and sold as Vin de France. In these outskirts, David can experiment with new techniques, vessels, and bottlings that are incompatible with the formal Burgundian classification system. Many of the vineyards are located adjacent to the domaine vineyards in areas just outside classification; here, David is experimenting with different grape varieties, varying levels of sulfur, and skirting aging requirements - and this is just the beginning.

Currently, the lineup consists of a few bottlings from Savigny-lès-Beaune (including 1er Cru Aux Serpentières), a Marsannay Rouge, a delicious Aligoté, and a Vin de France Chardonnay, with more to come.
