The NV Extra-Brut Largillier (2013) is a blend of the 2013 and 2012 vintages that was bottled in 2015 after long élevage on the lees for the vins clairs and disgorged in 2017. It's a fabulously rich, dramatic wine that might be described as "plus Selosse que Selosse," soaring from the glass with notions of citrus oil, white flowers, ripe pear, confit lemon, baking spices, toasted almonds and fenugreek. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, despite how fleshy and patinated this Champagne undeniably is, it's built around a remarkably racy spine of acidy that balances all that texture and richness. It's drinking fabulously today.

The NV Largillier, 100% Pinot Noir, needs a bit of air to show at its best. Rich layers of Pinot fruit, dried flowers, spice and mint start to open over time. Effusive and supple, the Largillier exudes lovely breadth in a creamy, ample style that offers tons of approachability. It is at once deep and yet also wonderfully translucent. Dried rose petal, cinnamon and a touch of reduction linger. The Largillier emerges from a site farmed in Ville-sur-Arce farmed by Jerome Coessens. Disgorged: September 3, 2019.
