The white Viura 2023 Txuria was superb. I tasted it next to the 2022, and even though it was less developed, more primary and still pending from developing further aromatic complexity, there was a sense of harmony, complexity, freshness and depth that made it vibrant and tasty with an almost salty finish. The year was less warm, the ripeness more controlled and the wine lower in alcohol, only 12%, and the pH was also lower, 3.06, and the acidity higher, 6.9 grams (measured in tartaric acid). It comes from the same vineyards as the 2022, in the villages of Dicastillo and Andosilla in Navarra plus also some in Ábalos in Rioja, where the altitude is higher, 550 meters above sea level. It matured in stainless steel and used barrels in equal parts for six months. 5,132 bottles and 270 magnums produced. It was bottled in April 2024.
