Offering up aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums mingled with peonies and spices, the 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a rich core of fruit framed by sweet, powdery tannins.

The 2022 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru comes from 101-year-old vines, the oldest, that comprise two-thirds of this cuvée. They apparently continue to produce good yields. It has a delineated bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry, gravel and light orange rind aromas, very nicely focused with the 15% new oak seamlessly integrated. The palate has a cohesive, quite powerful entry. Layers of red and black fruit intermixed with hints of graphite and a dab of black pepper. Good sapidity towards the finish beckons you back for more. Very fine.
