The 2022 Matsanko was produced with a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Tempranillo, quite different from previous years when it was a majority of Tempranillo. The Garnacha is from Olite and the Tempranillo from Dicastillo, fermented with full clusters. It matured in used French oak barrels for six months. They shortened the élevage and made it closer to the Garnacha style of the other reds, making it less Rioja-like than in previous years. It's tasty, medium-bodied and fine-boned despite the 14.5% alcohol, keeping the balance and poise with good freshness and acidity. 2,663 bottles were filled in November 2023.
