Mugnier's 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées is pretty and fine-boned, wafting from the glass with notes of sweet red berries, peonies and orange zest, framed by an extremely discreet patina of sweet oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a cool core of fruit, melting tannins and a saline finish, its structural charm renders it deceptively approachable, even if I think patience is in fact likely to be rewarded.

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a very attractive, quite intellectual nose with lively red fruit, crushed rocks, orange blossom and subtle tobacco scents. This has wonderful delineation. The palate is smooth and cohesive, with orange rind and Seville orange marmalade infusing the red fruit. An underlying note of white pepper and cracked black pepper lends spiciness to the finish. What a lovely, sprightly ingenue of a Les Fuées.
