The bottled Chardonnay 2020 Florine shows better than when I had tasted it unbottled. Named after Ganevat's daughter, it was produced with grapes from vines that Ganevat's father planted in 1986 on gray marl and gravel soils. This matured in a 2,500-liter foudre and 800-liter barrels for close to four years. It displays an almost fluorescent yellow color (always a good sign!), and the nose is a little more oxidative, reflecting the longer time in oak, but the palate reveals a lot of energy and is tasty, clean and expressive, with some richness but keeping the freshness and balance at 13% alcohol. Today, there was a different expression between nose and palate that showed better, with a salty twist in the finish.

Delicate flintstone, bruised apple, hay and wet stone gradations introduce the 2020 Côtes du Jura Florine. Touching the medium-bodied palate with stupendous energy and vibrant freshness, the 2020 is at eye level with the magnificent 2019 tasted last year. The 2020 walks off the stage with a long, concentrated finale.
