As with so many famed estates in Burgundy, Morey Coffinet has a deep viticultural lineage. The domaine was founded in 1970 by Michel Morey (son of the late Mac Morey) and Fabienne (from the Pilot family). Since 2009, the estate has been in the capable hands of their son, Thibault. Under his thoughtful supervision, the estate continues to pay homage to its viticultural history and the history of Chassagne, while still progressing into modernity.

Morey Coffinet

The Domaine Morey-Coffinet was established in 1978, but Michel, the son of the late Marc Morey, and Fabienne, the daughter of Fernand Coffinet and granddaughter of Cecile Pillot. Such an exceptional lineage was passed on to Thibault, along with 8.5 hectares of land, planted to 30% Pinot Noir and 70% Chardonnay.

Currently Thibault works alongside his dad in the vineyard and the cellar, bringing two generations of experience to all of their wines. The Morey-Coffinet vineyards are spread throughout the Chassagne-Montrachet commune, from the Batard-Montrachet, En Remilly and Dent de Chien parcels in the north, to the vineyards bordering Puligny-Montrachet and Saint Aubin, down to La Romanee above the hamlet of Morgeot.

Thibault has a great respect for the vineyards, and has earned acclaim from his peers for pursuing biodynamic viticulture in 2014, and gaining the certification in 2015.
