While "plantes" typically refers to recently planted vines in Burgundy, the 2020 Maranges Rouge Les Plantes is an exception to the rule, as these vines are fully 110 years old and apparently still in fine form. Exhibiting notions of plums, sweet berry fruit, warm spices and licorice, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, with superb concentration, ripe tannins and a long, resonant finish.
