An estate that dates back to World War II, today Arlaud is run by Cyprien who has elevated the already-impressive quality to new heights. His wines are sought out for their elegance, while their structure shows an impressive potential for aging.

Domaine Arlaud

Joesph Arlaud and Renée Amiot were wedded in the 1940s, inheriting an impressive plot of vineyards from the historically-important Amiot family, primarily in Morey-Saint-Denis. Today, the third generation of the estate, Cyprien, has built on those vineyards and the family's legacy, adding his own elegant touch to the wines.

The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru showed a little more whole bunch influence on the nose, although Arlaud did not divulge the exact percentage of stems are contained. There is plenty of black and blueberry fruit laced with peony and incense, but it will need bottle age to full coalesce these and the stem addition. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, very cohesive, well balanced and smooth towards the finish. Quite generous and precise on the finish, this Bonnes-Mares deserves 5-7 years in bottle, though it should reward those with patience.
