The 2020 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru was worked by horse and raised one-third in amphora and two-thirds in used barrels. It has a sophisticated nose unfolding the glass: dried honey commingles with lanolin, white linen and subtle hazelnut, gaining intensity as it opens in the glass. The beautifully balanced palate brings tangy orange rind and mandarin notes, with just a hint of grapefruit in the background. Sappy and quite penetrating (again), this is another cuvée that electrifies the senses like few other producers can do, not least in a warm summer like this. Excellent.
