The Wine Advocate

Wine Advocate

92-94

Aromas of cassis, orange rind, plums, incense and loamy soil preface the 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, muscular and concentrated wine that's deep and youthfully structured, standing out as one of the blockier, more introverted wines in a very suave portfolio from Drouhin. This is a fine proposition for the long haul.

Vinous

Vinous

92

The 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has more fruit concentration on the nose than Henri Boillot's Clos Vougeot, with smudged redcurrant and raspberry fruit, sous-bois and light leather scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is a little sharpness here, and this is a bit compact and peppery toward the finish—evidence of some whole bunch fruit. Give it another two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
