The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Maréchale 1er Cru is, again, very well defined on the nose with a little more complexity that de l'Arlot's Clos de l’Arlot. There’s a mélange of red and black fruit, sous-bois, bay leaf and clove. The palate is medium-bodied, finely-chiseled, taut and linear, with a keen thread of acidity. This is more sapid on the finish and bears a persistent aftertaste—a great wine for the vintage insofar that it retains freshness and vitality without losing any terroir expression. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
