Currently being revitalized by third-generation winemaker Cécile Bauchet and her husband Vincent, Champagne Pertois-Moriset is beginning to make waves with their bottlings from prime parcels in some of the most prestigious villages in the Côte des Blancs. Their effusive and exacting Champagnes are a welcome discovery in an area of Champagne dominated by (very) well-known wineries.

Pertois-Moriset

Champagne Pertois-Moriset was formed in 1951 by the union of Yves Pertois and Janine Moriset—both from winemaking families in Champagne. With land in arguably the best (and most expensive) areas in all of Champagne, Cécile Bauchet and her husband, Vincent, have set out to maximize the potential of their family estate.

Starting with the construction of a new winery and tasting room in 2009, the couple began investing heavily in both equipment and expertise, and they have seen remarkable results. The domaine is 20 hectares large, with the vast majority of their vineyards located in the prestigious Grand Cru villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, Oger, and Chouilly, supplemented by additional holdings in the Coteaux Sézannais.

The hard work of Cécile and Vincent is not only being recognized by their clients, but the prestigious Trésors de Champagne also inducted Pertois-Moriset into the Special Club in 2015.

They make a selection of assemblage wines, village bottlings, and a few single-site bottlings, along with their Special Club bottling. Pressing takes place in their modern membrane-lined tanks before aging in a mix of stainless steel and barrel. Malolactic conversion is typically blocked, allowing for extended periods of bottle aging.
