The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Champ Gains 1er Cru is a little more open and expressive on the nose compared to Caillat’s other cuvées, heightened mineralité here with traces of orange zest and freshly struck flint. The palate is very well balanced with quite a penetrating opening. Superb acidity in situ, vibrant and nervous though it batons down the hatches towards its tightly coiled finish as if to say: "Bugger off and come back later." So give it 3-4 years in bottle.
