The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has quite a sweet and candied bouquet with red cherries, redcurrant jam, fig and light rose petal scents. A touch of blood orange emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and ripe, though it does not quite deliver the complexity of its peers on the flattering, slightly confit finish and opts to play it safe. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
