The 2018 Sans Bruit is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris, which this year produced a wine with 20gm/L residual sugar and 15.5° alcohol. It has a flamboyant nose of menthol, licorice and orange pith aromas storming from the glass. You would be hard pressed to identify the grape varieties. The palate has a sweet entry with dried honey, ginger and rhubarb notes. The sweetness actually works well here, in the sense that it is incorporated into the style of the wine. Almost Germanic, like a Mosel Spätlese in some ways, and well defined and persistent. Intriguing!
