The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets wafts from the glass with a classy bouquet of ripe citrus, crisp yellow orchard fruit, white flowers and pastry cream that has already nicely integrated its new wood. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated, with the tightest knit, most reserved profile of any of the Moreys' 2017s reviewed here, displaying fine energy and a nicely defined finish. While the rest of the range is already hard to resist, this Caillerets will reward a bit of bottle age.

(Morey has three parcels of vines in the lieux-dits Poirettes and Grand Clos, ranging from 11 to 50 years of age): Pale yellow. Inviting perfume of lime blossom and anise lifted by spring flowers. Fresh and juicy but a bit youthfully tight; doesn't show as much body as the Morgeot today but this wine boasts greater inner-mouth mineral tension and lift to its flavors of fresh peach and orange juice. This lightly saline, very reserved wine displays a more Puligny-like structure, finishing with a hint of pineapple, a lightly tannic impression and subtle length.
