The 2017 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a more austere but beautifully delineated nose with red apples rather than green, petrichor and touches of undergrowth. This is less showy but complex. The palate is well balanced with nectarine and tangerine peel on the entry, indicating a slightly later-picked Saint-Aubin. But it is packed with flavor and a seductive spiciness develops on the lime-driven finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
