The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Mont des Oiseaux will be bottled in April 2018. This sample represented all the barrels in the domaine's cellar. (Following the 2015 debut, there was no 2016 due to frost.) It comes from the younger vines at the top of the Clos de l’Arlot amphitheater, completely de-stemmed and matured with 35% new oak. The generous bouquet features intense blackberry and raspberry fruit, a tangible marine undercurrent developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite fleshy and generous, but there is fine purity toward the velvety-smooth finish. Enjoy this over the next six to eight years and revel in its sheer buvabilité.
