The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Bossières, from vines located behind the Grivot maison that can create "village-plus" quality according to Etienne Grivot, offers blackcurrant and black plum scents on the nose, just a hint of cocoa in the background, doubtlessly from the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, black fruit interwoven with graphite, a fresh line of acidity, linear and compact at present but exhibiting satisfying length and persistence on the aftertaste. I expect this to land at the top of my banded score once bottled.

(from very old vines averaging at least 60 years of age; Grivot simply replaces individual vines as they die): Tight, sappy, very ripe aromas of black cherry, raspberry and chocolate accented by pungent minerality. Juicy and perfumed in the mouth, offering a captivating balance of subtle sweetness and inner-mouth tension to its dark chocolate and floral flavors. Grivot describes this parcel as village-plus in quality, noting that his father already vinified it on its own
