One of the whites from the négoce (usually from grapes purchased from friends in different locations), the 2016 La Gravière is an unusually perfumed Chardonnay from vines planted in 1949. Once I remarked how floral this felt, Jean-François Ganevat confessed it was produced with a type of Chardonnay called Chardonnay Muscaté, which, as you can guess, has some Muscat-like aromas. He likes to age this wine in large oak foudre with the lees for around 30 months, so it has a while to go...
