The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets offers up notes of fresh peach and honeyed citrus, followed by a medium to full-bodied, generous and open-knit palate with a rich, textural attack. Les Caillerets shows through in its stony, layered core, but it's a plusher, more gourmand example of the site this year.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru offers plenty of candied orange peel intermixed with vanilla extract and frangipane aromas. The aromatics feel too keen to be loved, lacking restraint or a sense of terroir expression. The balanced palate features lime cordial, orange zest and a twist of bitter lemon, showing moderate acidity but culminating in a rather obvious finish. To be honest, I encountered a much better bottle a few weeks earlier, hence the plus signs against my score. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
