The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru did not quite possess the same mineralité as the Les Champgains, demonstrating more earthy, undergrowth scents, then later enticing scents of wild mint and fennel. This is a mercurial bouquet. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This feels very natural and refined, just a hint of liquorice and blackberry towards the taut finish, though I found the Les Champgains more terroir expressive at the moment. Still, this should offer a decade of drinking pleasure, possibly more.
