The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Chaignots, a vineyard that I have a soft spot for, has a very pure, nubile, red cherry, crushed strawberry and cassis-tinged bouquet that is utterly seductive. The palate is beautiful: fine tannins, layers of dark cherry, black plum fruit with an almost confit-like finish that has wonderful definition and superb length. It might not possess the sophistication of Les Saint Georges or the Vaucrains, but the bottom line is that it is absolutely delicious.

The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has plenty of red fruit on the nose, still tightly wound after ten years. The palate is surprisingly structured, so much so that I thought it was a Les Saint-Georges. There is a touch of cough candy popping up on the finish with a spicy aftertaste. Very fine.
