Tasted blind, the 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Porusots reveals an attractive bouquet of green orchard fruit, white flowers and hazelnut cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a satiny attack, chewy extract and tangy balancing acids. It's a definite success.

The 2015 Meursault Porusots 1er Cru is a wine that I remember as perplexing in barrel, and that is borne out in bottle. The powerful, rather heavy-handed bouquet has perhaps too much new oak vis-à-vis the fruit, and there are strong tropical scents here that are almost overwhelming. The palate is reduced on the entry and as a consequence it is masking the terroir expression and denuding it of precision. That’s a shame, because there is a decent Meursault in there... somewhere. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure)
