Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1Er Cru les Caillerets from Marc Colin has a very elegant bouquet with hints of citrus fruit, yellow plum, a touch of crème caramel and brioche. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, not the most complex of several Caillerets tasted blind here but with a pleasant pinch of spice on the finish and good length. A tad richer in style that its peers, give this 2-3 years in bottle. Just a wonderful Caillerets.
