Pungent lemon and kumquat rinds penetrate the nose, behind which emerge site-typical black tea smokiness and dusty, stony notes. A buoyant and brightly citric palate delivers almost painful, cheek-tugging concentration of lemon and kumquat with their rinds, accompanied by pit-inflected white peach and underlain by crushed stone. Yet the sense of extract richness is almost creamy and custard-like. This finishes with striking clarity and penetration and citric, stony persistence--a relatively austere but impressive exemplar of its great site, and one that deserves a few years in bottle.
