All the top whites from 2014 were very closed, and the 2014 Les Grands Teppes Vieilles Vignes was not an exception. It was a much better year than 2013, when they had lots of problems, it rained a lot before the harvest and the grapes were brown (!). So Fanfan was a lot more positive about the 2014s, a vintage that produced great whites, with lots of acidity, with a very mineral and pure character, a little hard and maybe not as open an expressive as other warmer, riper years, wines with great purity and finesse. In this circumstances, you have to guide yourself by the palate, where the texture of this Grands Teppes made me think of a wine from Raveneau, especially because of the acidity and the balance. I dared mention this to Ganevat and he agreed! This was kept in demi-muid for 30 months, yet the wine does not show any wood. This is simply superb!
