Restrained but quite pure on the nose, with aromas of apricot blossom, white peach and vanillin oak supported by an undercurrent of minerality that becomes more pronounced with aeration. On the palate, this invigorating Chardonnay is rich at only 13% alcohol but also impeccably balanced, with lemon and mandarin orange flavors dominating. The vines in the Grands Teppes were planted on marl and gravel in 1919 and 1902, providing this 2012 with its structured, pleasantly austere finish. A great effort!
