Disgorged October 2017, the dark golden-yellow colored 2013 Le Jardin de la Grosse Pierre Grand Cru offers a deep, ripe, fresh and complex bouquet of ripe red apples, sweet and dark cherries and redcurrants along with discreet oak and lovely oxidative notes. Very pure, complex, full and rich yet fine and elegant, this is a well-structured, intense and expressive field blend (planted in 1923 and partly replanted in 1952) of many different grape varieties, including Chasselas, Fromenteau, Gros Plant and Teinturier that were all picked in one passage. Entirely sourced in Bouzy, this is a full-bodied, pure and complex Champagne with lingering fruit notes of apple strudel with cinnamon. Tasted April 2018.
