Bright medium yellow. Very refined, complex aromas of pineapple, crushed stone and white flowers. Surprisingly full on the attack, then wonderfully juicy, suave and intense in the middle palate, showing terrific lift to its flavors of lemon, pineapple and pungent but harmonious minerality. The rising, palate-staining finish reminded me of the '14, but this wine enters the mouth with more obvious breadth and richness. Lafon told me he had planned to pick this fruit on a weekend but because of a storm a week before that, he was afraid that the grapes were going to turn quickly so he picked a few days earlier than anticipated, when the grapes were just on the verge of changing. He added: We didn't really have botrytis yet, but the grapes would have turned blue in two more days. This impeccably balanced, slightly creamy wine finishes minerally, youthful and very long. (13.5% alcohol; 25 hectoliters per hectare; 4.7 g/l acidity; 3.17 pH)
