The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino saturates the palate with layers of sweet ripe berries, flowers, licorice and savory herbs. This is a decidedly flashy, fruit-forward style in this vintage yet there is more than enough Sangiovese acidity and tannin to balance some of the wine’s more extroverted leanings. Though quite flashy at first, the 2007 turns more classic and refined with time in the glass. A vibrant finish rounds things out in style. This is a terrific showing from Caprili.
