This 2006 vintage comes from various parcels in Meursault and the winemaking approach follows traditional practices, with extended lees contact and aging in barrels for 15-22 months. This wine can be enjoyed now or continue to age, it is offering up notes of struck matchstick, exotic fruit with vibrant acidity and a long finish.

Coche's 2006 Meursault Villages is evolving beautifully, and it has become a much more exciting wine than it was when I last tasted it four years ago. A classic Coche-Dury nose of struck match, nutty new oak and autolysis, white peach and citrus oils (Mandarin, Meyer lemon) is followed by a vibrant, textural palate impression, with excellent cut and energy despite the vintage. It's great to see this wine evolving so well—and it's still youthful.

This was my first time to Bouley’s Test Kitchen, which occupies an entire floor in a fairly non-descript building. The entrance is unremarkable, but when I saw a number of Burgundian vignerons I knew I was in the right place. My first impression was quite positive, but then again, it couldn’t have been otherwise, as I was handed a glass of Coche-Dury’s 2006 Meursault and several delicious hors d’oeuvres when I walked in. Not a bad aperitif, to say the least.
