The Wine Advocate

Wine Advocate

Produced entirely from whole cluster fruit (“given the tiny quantities I have no choice,” said Lardiere), the 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses offers a nose of roasted dark berries, coffee, and herbs. Medium-bodied, powerful, and firm, its flavor profile is made up of espresso beans and blackberries. This tannic wine will require cellaring. Projected maturity: 2008-2017.

Medium red. Reticent, pure aromas of ripe raspberry, underbrush and soil. Dense, dry and very rich, with sappy, mellow notes of red fruits, menthol and underbrush. Builds slowly toward the back, finishing with a sappy freshness and terrific persistence. The tannins are dense and quite fine-grained.
