Vinous

Vinous

91-93

(racked more recently than LafonÂ’s other 2002 Volnays) Deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of bitter cherry, licorice and subtle spices, with a complicating note of fresh herbs. Rich, supple and complex, with lovely framing acidity. Very elegant, stylish Volnay with no rough edges or excess weight. Finishes long and sweet, with silky tannins and plenty of grip. This is 13.2% natural alcohol, from a yield below 30 hectoliters per hectare. I like this style.
