Medium red. Pretty, floral aromas of raspberry, blackberry, black cherry, smoke, mint and earth. Dense, thick and ripe; more backward and more obviously structured than the village wines, with a flavor of black cherry. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent, with slightly rustic menthol and smoky oak notes. Also tasted: 2000 Cote de Nuits-Villages, 2000 Volnay Santenots.
