1999 Coche-Dury, Meursault Premier Cru, Perrieres

The Premier Cru Perrieres vineyard is marked by thin, rocky soils with a high proportion of limestone. The winemaking process is traditional, involving extended lees contact and aging in barrels for 15-22 months. “Jean-François still cites the 1999 vintage as one of the strongest in recent memory in Meursault.” (John Gilman)

The Wine Advocate

Wine Advocate

90-91

The 1999 Meursault Perrieres has a shy yet deep, smoke, mineral, and spice-laden nose. This highly refined, gorgeously detailed wine is packed with minerals, toast, spices, and crisp pears. Medium-bodied, concentrated, and harmonious, this beautiful offering also possesses an extremely long and pure finish.

Vinous

Vinous

93

Peach, apple, pear, minerals and a hint of menthol austerity on the nose. Very steely and extremely backward. The combination of powerful minerality, strong acidity and pronounced oakiness currently gives the finish a toughness. But it hard to believe that this wine won't blossom with seven or eight years of cellaring.
